I am BEYOND honored to have the poignant and important work of Jill Freedman hanging here at Sunshine. Jill was a Female photographer documenting moments that most others let pass by. She was captivated by, most times, what was considered the outsider, the periphery and her work brings a noble strength to all that passed her lens.
She was a foul mouthed tornado of a woman who cared very little about playing by the rules and more about capturing what she felt was quickly fading around her. When speaking about her work and why she shot what she did, "I want to get it down now, while there are still people who remember a time that was, places that were, that will never be again."
An accomplished photographer whose struggles and strengths capture my heart, I am humbled to share.
